We celebrate the region’s most impressive digital companies as new report highlights their value to the economy
Reports that the North East tech industry could be worth £5.7bn to the region – but who are the companies that are making it happen.
The Journal has worked with a panel of industry experts to compile our first North East Tech 50 list of the companies making the biggest difference in the region’s tech scene.
The companies nominated range from multinationals like Sage to start-ups and scale-ups that have already made an impression, whether through innovation, rapid growth or ability to stay a step ahead of the game in a fast-changing world.
We’ve focused on business that are North East born and bred, rather than the many multinationals also positively impacting the region’s digital scene. Most are tech firms in the strictest sense, but we have also sought to acknowledge those making admirable use of technology within other sectors.
Our thanks go to our panel of industry thought leaders made up of:
- Herb Kim of Thinking Digital
- Jim Mawdsley of Generator/Digital Union
