Richard completes 180km cycle race around Lake Geneva

CEO of PolyPhotonix, Richard Kirk, is well known for heading up into the mountains for a walk or a climb, but some may not know that he is a keen cyclist and often takes his bike on long rides around the County Durham countryside. This time it got serious.

Richard (pictured in red – company colours of course!) and (most of) his team of 10 others completed a 180 kilometre cycle race around Lake Geneva on the “Cyclotour du Léman”, held on Sunday 15th May 2016.

The gruelling race involved 1,450m of climbing and, between them, the team ended up with 3 injuries and 2 members in hospital. Everyone is recovering well.

Hoping to complete the course in 9 hours, at the half way point Richard knew he would beat this time and actually completed the race in an impressive 6 hours 23 minutes.
